Actually, DS stands for Drill Sergeant. You see Nitendo's getting tired of the belief that Nintendo games are for kids and they decided that the brand name "Game Boy" wasn't helping them get rid of that image. So for their next handheld they decided to call it the Drill Sergeant [or DS for short] so that when people hear it they will think of in your face action that doesn't let up.

Sometimes you get the scorpion.
