Hmm, I think I can see what you see as hair. To be honest I always saw that as part of his hat. I see why it looks like hair now, since from the sides he has "side burns" there. However, those could easily be ear flaps like those hats on Northern Exposure. Remember Northern Exposure? It had moose, and the annoying Canadian accent that sounds like brain damage. Besides, side burns don't wiggle when you dash.
I still have no idea why the sword looks odd to you though... It's just a sword being swung quickly...
