I think it's funny, because it's not intended to be serious or demeaning, at least in my opinion. And I've always that the phrase "Soandso found God" was wierd anyway. Finding God isn't the hard part, since he is everywhere. It's the believing and surrendering that people usually have trouble with. ;)
When I was in Morocco a few weeks ago, one of my friends in a different group was backpacking throught he Atlas mountains and visiting people who live in these tiny villages up there. The story goes that early one morning he sits up in a half-exhausted stupor and says "Jesus- he does things to stuff". It became such a hit with our missions team that my pastor is planning on putting that on their new shirts!
