Exactly, that's what I use (they call them "check cards" around here though). Basically it's the ease of use of a credit card, but it's your money and no fees like a check. Plus, it's the only way I could buy stuff online. It's just something I tend to want to avoid like the plague.
Um, used cars are easily affordable (only a couple thousand for a decent one if you know where to look), and that's all anyone really needs. I know many people that have bought used cars with a single cash payment, and are certainly not loaded or anything near it. Only the rich bother with brand new cars. I mean, even as a gamer, I'll get a used game if it's in good condition. I have much lower standards for vehicles. I just need it to get me from point a to point b, and on weekends point c.
