I guess you could say I don't have taste in games, but I look at it more as being a bit picky. Kinda like Weltall, I mostly prefer games with big stories, but not always. If it has a lot of freedom (like Grand Theft Auto) or if it's just plain addicting (like Zelda, which has somewhat of a big story... maybe not Final Fantasy big, but bigger than Nintendo's other franchises) then I'll grow attached to it as well. I'm not completely closed to platformers though. I don't care for too many 3D platformers, but I do like 2D platformers such as the Sonic and Kirby games. (I hated Kirby 64 though.) I'll admit I do like the 3D Sonic games, one of the rare exceptions to my dislike of 3D platformers. I didn't care too much for CBFD, but it was decent. At least it didn't have that "collecting" nuissance from B-K and DK64. I never got far in it either though. Like Weltall said, the humor is what really made it. It's kinda like the South Park games: funny, not fun.
And yes, I do think most of Rare's games (though I never even mentioned Blast Corp, nor have I played it or heard much about it) are overrated, but I wouldn't be at all shocked or annoyed if someone said one of my favorite games (say, perhaps, FF7 or Chrono Trigger) was overrated. To a lot of people, they probably are, I'm just more partial to RPGs than to platformers, that's all. It depends on how hyped up a game is and if it's really as good as they say it is. FF8, for example, is a great game in my opinion, but since it was a disappointment compared to FF7, several people call it total shit and the worst game ever. Because of that, I consider FF8 to be highly underrated. FFX, however, I consider to be one of the absolute most overrated games of all time. Okay, the bell just rang, so I'll close this post here.
