I don't hate all platformers. I absolutely adore Mario 64. I simply hate most platformers (Banjo included) because they're basically the same damn game, and half the time just prolonged fetch quests to boot. I love Zelda too, all of them that I've played, even though the storylines are pretty basic.
Conker is original, and it is funny from time to time, but some parts of it were a chore to play. It was funny, but it wasn't fun.
Also, I believe that if Rare were a PSX-exclusive developer, no one would have ever given a damn about them. And JFG was like a poor Mega Man ripoff. Not fun at all. I'm glad I only wasted ten bucks on it.
Can I help it no one knows how to make a good platformer? Hell, even Mario 64 was a fetch-quest for a good deal of it, but the levels were so well-designed and it was just so damned fun I didn't want to stop. There is something M64 had that no other 3D platformer has ever been able to duplicate. Only Sunshine even came close.
