There aren't exactly that many recent games in the beat-em-up genre... and most of the older ones are extremely, extremely simple with one action button. Still fun, often, but simple.

What games exactly are these deep fighting systems that make Oni look so simple in?

Oni has a nice, fun fighting system... not super complex, sure, but fun, with several normal attacks and plenty of special moves that make it more interesting. :)
