There was far less collecting in Banjo then there was in DK64, so complaining about having to collect all of notes in one level all at once but overlooking the insane amount of mindless collecting in Dk64 is absurd. The level design in Banjo is definitely superior to the level design in DK. Just take a look at Treasure Trove Cove, one of the best-designed levels in the genre.
And take a look at DK's textures vs. Banjo-Kazooie's. The level of clarity is amazing in BK while DK looks very bland. It's difficult to tell with these screenshots but you can still tell the difference. It's be best if you just revisited BK and DK64 on the N64.
