DK64 was my second N64 3d platformer after Mario 64 so the collecting format was still relatively fresh. Of course, I'm having fun with B-T, so I don't know... :) I got Rayman 2 somewhere around there too, but that one I got for PC and anyway its a quite different format, with not much collecting that is relevant to the game...
B-K is for sure a great game. I just don't think its as good as DK64... I don't know, but its graphics aren't quite as good, and not having to collect all the items of one type in the same playthrough is quite nice. That is annoying in B-K...
And I just liked DK64. It was fun. The different characters were nice. The collecting? Not that bad... it varied your tasks a lot, and the different characters each have strengths they use. And I liked the level design... some of the levels especially I thought were great, but they were all good. Sure there were a couple I didn't like as much (the fantasy forest one and the first underwater one), but they aren't exactly bad either...
Don't B-T and Conker not use the expansion pack? I don't understand why they didn't use it to try to get better framerates... both games definitely have issues with that. I agree that B-T just goes a bit too far for N64 hardware... its a lot of fun but the framerate issues are a bit annoying.
Its probably just uniqueness. All three games are quite similar... and you just started out with one then because of how you liked it and the others are quite similar and not hugely better or anything you like it best. Same with me and DK64. :)
