Well the whole point was that you returned to the same area where you started (Like a circle). The reason the areas looked the same was because it was the same ship you started the game at. Oh, and Bungie tried to imagine how a space ship in the future would look like. You're not going to get some cartoon like level design. Plus, the reason why you got tried with them were because they were so huge. Anyway when it is all said and done Halo is the best FPS ever... PERIOD
I got tired off the flood as you did, but I was getting tired of the Covenant during the middle part of the game, so the flood was refreshing at least up until the end where they got more rediculous than ever in numbers. It seems like they all died, and I pray to god that is the situation. I havn't read the book Halo is based on so I don't know.
