Well I got the game today and have played it for a few hours so I thought I'd tell you what I think of it at this early stage.
It's... not bad. The car controls are fine, although you slide way too easily. The on-foot parts are pretty mediocre though. The way your guy moves is very awkward, the camera is atrocious, and making him turn at a certain angle is frustrating and difficult. The aiming is "dumb" as it doesn't want to lock on to a guy shooting at you from a few inches away and rather targets an enemy halfway across the room.
The story and presentation are all really good though, and I'll have to play the game for a few more hours before I decide whether or not I want to keep it.
Why do all the americans hate the lock-on system? Did they make it sucxky just for your version? I haven't ONCE had the gun lock onto the wrong person

Anyways, easy way around the camera issue - whenever you walk into a new room hit the R1 + Square combination. If anyones there, you'll lock on and start shooting immediately. Sure it means you'll button mash a bit, but it solves the problem :)
Personally, I'm in love with this game. My favorite part about Grand Theft Auto was always doing the missions, and trying to beat the police back to your hideout, and this game is pretty much 100% that. So... yay!
BTW, it gets much better once you've completed Mark Hammonds' missions. :)
If i had a dollar for every time i ran out of hair in the middle of a spoon making contest id only eat your children with a side of slaw and THOSE ARENT PILLOWS!!
