This is actually an issue that I'm quite conservative about. Considering I want to end up in the video game industry, an industry that might get Kazaa'd in the future, I'm against the copying and sharing of copyrighted material. I do download songs, but they're all from OverClocked Remix.
I think the argument that record execs are ripping the public off is understandable, but childish. Has anyone heard of, "Two wrongs don't make a right?" Most of these people have stolen back far more than their share of music.
There are a lot of things that don't immediately make sense. Why does a baseball player get paid millions of dollars to play a game? Why do movie stars get paid millions of dollars to play pretend? Why do bands get paid millions of dollars to play music? All while a fireman makes less than 100,000 dollars. Weltaii, championer of capitalism, should know the answer. In a capitalistic society, things only cost as much as people will pay for them. Producers are willing to pay over a millions of dollars for Vin Diesel because he can dru up buzz for a film. Baseball players get payed millions of dollars because people with money are willing to send that money to see the baseball players. And right now, the value of music in the online community is $0.
If you're saying that people who buy a CD are overpaying for a 7 cent disc, then it's not much of a logical jump to say that gamers are overpaying for a $1 game disc. I hope that we are not so foolish to come to that conclusion.
