Well, the fact is that most people don't seem to rip to MP3s at a decent quality, especially on Kazaa. Lately I've stopped ripping my CDs as MP3s because I generally rip at 192 kbps because when I do that I can't tell the difference between CDs and MP3. However, that takes up a lot of space so lately I've been importing as OOGs or AACs. I'm not really saying that ripping MP3s straight from CD sounds different if you encode at a high quality. However, I find the MP3s you find on Kazaa and the like are usually poorly ripped, which is why I haven't used the service in a while.
