Out of that whole quote a single sentence mentioned multiplayer in passing. It seems we know as much now as we did before, that there will be some kind of multiplayer that may or may not use networking.
I still say they should take a 4 swords approach, but using Metroid's gameplay as the mechanism. I'd love having to explore massive caves and such, branching off from the "start", with others going either the same way or their own. trying to find the most powerups and reach the end first, with the possibility for setting some traps with rock slides and such. Maybe doing something in one path triggers something else in a different path, either for good or ill, like getting powerbombs on your path accidently unlocks the gravity suit in another's path, which they would have otherwise had to skip past. Well, I can dream... Of course, for this to work it would be best to make it system link compatible with up to 4 systems linked together.
