On the contrary, if we look at just GB, Kirby 2 is better than Mario Land, Mario Land 2, Wario Land, or Wario Land 2. or Kirby 1... actually Kirby 2 is my favorite platformer on the GB... or GBC. No question. Wario Land is probably second...
And when compared to contemporary games on other consoles, it more than holds its ground. Kirby's Adventure on NES, for instance, is in the same class as the NES Marios in the best games on the system list. I'd probably say the same for Super Star and Kirby 3 on SNES but haven't played them as much.
I don't see how you can dislike Kirby... its easily one of Nintendo's best serieses. Not as good as Mario or Zelda, but better than most, for sure...
Oh, and the offshoot games are fun too. Kirby's Pinball Land is still fun to play once in a while... it was the first non-platformer Kirby game, and probably is still the best one. IMO, anyway. :) Kirby's Block Ball was a solid breakout game. Tilt n Tumble was a unique and fun game too... And on SNES I'd say Kirby's Dream Course is quite fun...
Of those four offshoot games the only flaws I can think of are howe Block Balland Tiltntumble are far too easy. But the series is quite easy as a whole... very fun, but easy. The problem is most give some more challenging task... in Tilt n Tumble, that more challenging task was pretty easy... and in Block Ball it did take a while for some levels, but that game wasn't quite as good as other Kirby games. Its a good breakout game... but not a great one. Oh well... at least it was unique, with the paddles on multiple sides of the screen. :)
