The difference between disappointment and satisfaction is expectation. While Nintendo certainly hyped up its audience for something significant, you didn't have to get excited for it. I didn't. Nintendo (Miyamoto specifically) has promised before to deliver something big and remarkable that was so innovative that it required hiding from its competitors. That promise was made between SpaceWorld 2001 and E3 2002. Nothing that has been announced has fulfilled this promise in my mind. I don't feel hurt. I think what they were talking about was FLUDD in SMS, and I'm okay with the fact that I disagree with EAD on the remarkableness of a water hose. I seem to be in the majority on that one. This seems to be a very similar situation. I did read that interview, but in this case, my skepticism was warranted. The vast majority of writing I've read on the internet seems to fall on the side of disapointment, which sends the message that Nintendo cannot produce something enticing enough in the simplicity direction to turn the collective head of the gaming audience away from its path to more detail and complexity.
