I should probably be ashamed to admit this, but... I haven't played the Super Mario RPG remake. I know, my username and avatar are derived from one of the characters in that game, and yet somehow, I haven't gotten around to playing that one. I had just replayed it on my old SNES back in 2021 or 2022, thereabouts, right before the Switch remake was announced. I would love to try it, though, as it looks very good and also faithful to the original while also updating its look for the HD era (and the gameplay a bit too, from the look of it).
Yeah, actually, Red XIII's voice in Remake and Rebirth is what's really jarring. I also imagined him being wise and thus having a deeper voice. In the Remake trilogy, he sometimes talks with a more mature voice, but other times, he slips into his "excitable little kid" voice, and... I don't like the latter voice, if I'm being completely honest. I'm not saying he has to be an edgelord, and I find some of the dialogue of people treating him like the party's pet dog to be amusing, but I do wish he'd use the more sophisticated of his two voices as his default voice.
I do like the talk grunts in some of Nintendo's (and Rare's) games. The original Star Fox on SNES had some amusing grunt sounds, and I love the ones in Banjo-Kazooie as well. And of course, Link has his iconic HYAAAAAHHHH!!!
