Both can be played on a flashcart now, but the Switch 1 or 2 VB shell is actually quite good. It works really well and has a great stereoscopic effect. Adding savestates for games which badly needed saving like Mario Clash is also great, and since you're looking into a headset you don't have that horrible NSO VC backdrop around the screen that I hate SO, SO much in any of the apps running on a television! You can just play the game with the areas around black, like it should be for any retro game! Seriously, that you cannot turn off the horrible player icon and grey spots and all that on the screen almost totally ruins the entire Switch VC lineup.
Unfortunately the VB does share the input lag problems of a lot of Switch VC apps, but it's not as bad as stuff like the Gamecube at least. It's playable.
As for the games, Dragon Hopper is getting a lot of very high praise. I'm seeing a lot of people calling it maybe the best game on the VB, or at least in the top two right up there with VB Wario Land. It's not just a simple platformer, the game has action-adventure game elements and was directed by the guy who would go on to make the first two Paper Mario games. As for Zero Racers, that one has gotten a much more mixed reception, but bah, it's always been the cancelled game I most wanted to play so I went in wanting to like it... and yeah, it's a very fast and exciting game with a great sense of speed. The absence of music is disappointing but it does have great sound effects.
