I do look forward to this game. That said, I hope they don't just stop here, or wait a few years to reboot Star Fox 64 yet again. I hope this remake is good, first of all, and if so, I hope it is also successful enough to warrant sequels. I guess that's what I miss: a sense of progression for the series. Star Fox Adventures, for all its faults, did continue the lore of Star Fox by introducing Krystal (I realize she wasn't supposed to be a Star Fox character and that Rare was working on a completely different game called Dinosaur Planet, but I digress), establishing that Peppy had retired and was helping from behind the scenes, and having a character arc for Falco (which doesn't really come up until his sudden return during the final boss fight, but still, it was something--and yeah, having the anticlimactic confrontation with General Scales end without a fight and then bringing Andross in at the last second was lame, but whatever). And then Star Fox Assault felt like another natural evolution for the series: Krystal is part of the team, Falco is back, Slippy is... still Slippy (can't win 'em all, I suppose). You even briefly visit Sauria and see Tricky again in one level. But even beyond the characters and story, it felt like the gameplay was also advancing by incorporating Arwing combat, Landmaster combat, and foot combat. Did it do everything perfectly? No, but it tried some things while not straying too far from what made the series popular in the first place (which one might argue Adventures did, though I don't mind so much; my main problems with Adventures are the backtracking and the fact that it was rushed to completion due to Microsoft's acquisition of Rare).

So yeah... that string of Star Fox lore might be over now, and expecting more from that series might be like expecting a third Andrew Garfield Spider-Man film--mayhappeth that ship hath sailed. But I would love to see this latest Star Fox reboot prosper.
