Oh, I found a great place to get some well designed metal replacements for the N64 analog stick.

They're basically identical parts, but made from metal instead of plastic so they should last a LONG time. A little oil might help smooth out the direct metal on metal contact a bit, but either way it'll be very durable for a long time. All you really need are the stick and the bowl parts, but you can replace every bit if needed.

For the Gamecube, this is a more tactile underlying button for the Z trigger. If you, like me, always found that button to be squidgy and awkward, this really helps make it more responsive!
