We now have confirmation that Switch 2 game cards are significantly slower than internal storage or SD Express cards. That's 200MB/s for the game cards, 400MB/s and up for SD Express depending on the model, and 1GB/s for internal storage. The difference is so significant that many developers depending on modern extremely high data throughput (NVMe storage) are having to opt out of game carts entirely. If you wonder why your cartridge version of some Switch 2 game seems to have long load times, there's the reason. Nintendo are basically booting us out the door of physical ownership at this point.
