Okay, I asked "So then, you saying his cape and armor can't change shape? He can't like grow spikes out of his gauntlets or turn his cape into a spear?", to which you respond "no". Um, I'm a little confused by that response. Do you mean "No, I am not saying that" or "No he can't do that"?
Anyway, different character eh? Well if that's the case, I think it's obvious why they picked the normal spawn, and it should be to you as well. They picked the main character from the franchise (Spawn is the main character, right?) as opposed to a sub character. That's why they picked Link instead of Sheik or Ganondorf. As for Tekken, I haven't really played that game, except like once in the arcade, so I have no idea if that old guy is the main character or not. However, if that series is like most fighting games, there likely is no main character.
They likely gave that Spawn the older Spawn's axe because, if I get this Spawn thing straight, there is like a different spawn in each era or something right? Or, are there a total of just two spawns, or is this medieval guy just some guy imitating the real Spawn? I'm not sure which cliche to use here. If he is just a new spawn in the lines of spawns (yeesh, I don't think I've used the world spawn so often since I last played an FPS I can't remember the name of where I died like, every 5 seconds), then can't he just use the same basic powers to generate an axe that the older one used? I mean, how does he get all those other demonic weapons? Can't he just call forth that axe? You could also just think of him as having been given the axe by that other guy. I mean, unless Spawn is quoted as saying something like "I shall never use an axe, for they are the weapons of cowards", then I can see no reason why giving him an axe is some insult. Maybe they wanted to give him the axe to connect him to that era?
