Another great old game is Smash TV. It's an arcade game, don't know if it was ever released to any consoles.

There's a hipster bar nearby called the Barcade, which is pretty much what the amalgamated name suggests: a bar and an arcade. It has this game there, which is great, innovative fun. It must be one of the first games to do what Monkey Escape (or whatever) for PS1 did: use two directional joysticks, one for movement, one that attacks in the direction you point.
Really awesome game. They have Ghosts and Goblins, too, but the joystick is broken (you can't go "down", meaning you can't get past the second level because you can't descend a ladder).
Yep. Like that game isn't hard enough without having a god damned broken joystick. All part of the charm of that rickety place, though. The dozens of local microbrews will take your mind off of it. Or get you drunk and horny enough to leave and hit up the local strip club and burn a good hundred without breaking a sweat.
