Rare is definitely a very sad case, but that story -- of a game developer being bought, and then destroyed, by a large publisher -- has happened over and over and over, so it's nothing uncommon or surprising, sadly. Big gaming publishers seem to just not quite understand how to manage the talent in studios they buy, so they ruin things and leave those companies in ruins or closed.
And yeah, one frequent result of that is studios like this one, developers made up of staff from companies like Rare. As for this game though, not much information in that article there... what kind of game is it? ... Ah, the article linked in that article has a trailer. It's a 2.5d spaceship game? Not what I would have guessed... looks fun, perhaps.
