"to 'sperg out"
Since I'm not a dick like Great Rumbler, I'll put this into my own words. To get another opinion, click the link.
sperg out
Origin: derived from the disorder Asperger's Syndrome, which characterizes its sufferer as being simultaneously socially awkward or emotionally stupid, yet logically, very intelligent. It's somewhere on the autism spectrum. Those afflicted with Asperger's often times don't pick up on the same social cues as a normal person would, likes to spend time alone, is withdrawn, and typically lacks a common sense perspective.
Asperger's Syndrome became a meme when internet users first discovered it and began self-diagnosing. The assumed mindset is that the person finds an excuse to lack people skills, while congratulating themselves on high intelligence.
This sort of self-diagnosis, also seen with things like bipolar disorder or borderline personality disorder, became almost a trend in places. Along with seeing it on SomethingAwful, I remember seeing it in other social networks, or friends' blogs. After it became chic to be 'sperg, people denoted the sort of false and indulgent self-diagnosis as "Ass-Burgers", a homophone of the original name of the disorder.
Another word was derived from Aspergers and entered the lexicon of internet dorks. Whenever a person is seen to be dedicating time to something trivial or man-childish, such as writing full encyclopedia-like articles on pokemon fanfiction, they are seen to be 'sperging out. Whenever they take a small detail seriously and blow a lot of hot air about it, often times completely missing the forest for the trees, they are called out for 'sperging out.
