If it helps, DJ, Pedobear started in 4chan, the murky underbelly of the Internet, so we're lucky something that tame is what took hold.

It's like DJ said in the last thread, memes don't necessarily cover the entire Internet. I mean, even among us, for instance. Everyone here knows this picture very well:



Sure, many might recognize the man, some even the specifics, but posting it elsewhere wouldn't have the same impact as it does here, because we made our own meme out of it.

I'm also heavily involved in Team Fortress 2 community. I wouldn't blindly expect you guys to know about Spycrabs, Towering Pillars of Hats, or Saxton Hale because, though highly known in that "culture", it is meaningless elsewhere.
