Blue Jays this year's Rays? Nah... Rays won 31 more games in '08 than in '07. The Jays only have to win 8 or 9 more games than they won last year and that could be enough to win the division. It's Boston who needs to be most concerned about their fate here. The Rays only have two less wins than the Red Sox so far, the Yankees have won 6 in a row, and Boston's steroid power seems to have run out (Ortiz, who once hit 54 jacks in a season, is currently on pace for zero home runs). Meanwhile, the Jays have the most wins in the entire league despite having three starting pitchers on the DL - they're replacing their injured starters with guys from the Edmonton Cracker Cats for chrissakes, and they still win. Convincingly. Not to mention that they're the best offensive team in the major's at this point. They look unstoppable. Regular folks where I'm from are even starting to talk about baseball and are tuning in to the Blue Jays every night, and trust me, that's saying something. Nobody gave a shit about baseball around here even when Alberta had two minor league Triple A teams, but now there's an interest building among the common fan, and it's pretty great to see. I've been told that people haven't been this excited about baseball since 1992 and 1993. And Toronto's building on this momentum of having a whole country starting to take notice. If you ask me, this series means more for Boston than it does the Jays.
