I think he's better than Keaton, too. The growling voice is a little over-the-top but I don't think it's so bad. The worst part about him (and Joker, too) is that he seems downright invincible, like surviving a fall from a building large enough to land a helicopter. Actually, I guess Joker isn't so much invincible as he is omniscient and can apparently orchestrate and plan things out to the tiniest detail and have them pan out perfectly, aside from underestimating the consciences of both criminals and normal people in a kill-or-be-killed situation. That was a bit of an eye-rolling moment. I don't remember, why were all of those felons on the boat anyway? Were they being transported after the Joker destroyed the prison?
Anyway, the good parts of The Dark Knight make up for the bad, and I think Nolan's Batmans are still more interesting than Schumacher's or Burton's.
