Nope. I heard the explosion, but nothing before that. It's as if it was spinning so fast the centrifugal forces just built and built until it couldn't take any more, and when a seam finally made itself known, that's all it took to blow the thing apart.
Now I did hear some aweful noises AFTER the "BANG".
Oh, here's an update. The drive is busted now. Apparently the shards shot all over the inside of the thing and messed up some stuff in there pretty bad. I replaced it with an older drive, and I can still read DVDs, but for a while I can't burn anything so backups will need to wait... That drive is fairly new too. Fortunatly it's still under warrentee and I'm pretty sure breaking a disk which breaks the drive is covered. Too bad they don't sell this game any more... Upsetting really...
