Lazy, you totally missed the meaning of "jump the shark." It means when a franchise gets to a point where they are running out of ideas and resort to uninspiring plots. It comes from the TV show Happy Days when the Fonz jumped over a shark on a jetski.

Either way, I agree that Metroid 3 could be pretty good. Obviously the single player has always been solid, but it will be interesting to see if they can deliver a decent multiplayer. The multiplayer in Echoes was pretty forgettable.
