Viva Pinata proves that no matter how good Rare's games get, they won't start selling again until they're released on a platform that their audience actually owns: one made by Nintendo.
... as for Gears, it may be a new IP, but it's a well-known, veteran developer with a large fanbase... and FPSes make up the majority of the games people think of when they think of the Xbox/X360...
