    DAY 2

    [size=3][size=1]Game Time: 4:06
    Percentage: 34%
    Chozo Artifacts: 3
    Beams:
    ●●●●●
    Missiles: 70
    Energy Tanks:
    99 ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
    Suit: Gravity
    Current Location: Phendrana Drifts

    [size=2]I spent most of today sequence-breaking the Plasma Beam, doing so without the Spider Ball or Grapple Beam. It is possible, but it is very difficult and very frustrating, especially because if you screw it up, you have to reset the game or wait until at least acquiring the Grapple Beam, as you can't use the trick to reach the first spin platform, it will be too far to reach once raised.

    Not only that, but you have to do a little lava diving to cross that one room with the spider track. It is possible, of course, but on Hard mode, the lava fucks you rough. You have to go into the lava pit and bomb-jump out. Considering how fast the lava kills you, you don't get but three chances to do this with 5 energy tanks, and even when successful, you're left with little life. I passed this three times only to fail at the jumps for the Plasma beam, so the last time, I kept going to the area with the Flying Pirates and saved (and grabbed the Tank). Backtracking to the Geothermal Core, some harrowing jumping (and a very nasty ghetto jump) later, I had my Plasma Beam and I went to Phendrana, which I hadn't visited since getting the Wave Beam.

    With the Plasma Beam, I was able to get the PowerBomb upgrade that's in one of the baby Sheegoth dens (which opens up TONS of stuff, you can basically go right to the end of the Phazon Mines if you have the balls to suffer Phazon burn) I began my assault on the Research Labs, and let me tell you; having the Ice Beam makes the labs five times easier. Ice+Missle= Pirates not breathing. Having the Plasma Beam makes it ten times easier. Charged Plasma = Also Pirates not breathing. Even on Hard, they're cake. I got the Super Missile, and later the Thermal Visor. Then, since I had the Ice Beam, I didn't have to backtrack through the darkened Labs. Instead, I went to the Frozen Pike, through the Hunter Cave and to the Gravity Suit, which is where I left off.

    All this, and Thardus is still waiting for me. There's a lot you can do in this game without the Spider Ball. Tomorrow I tackle Thardus and with the Spider Ball, I can go get my X-ray visor.
