I think it's like a cartoon of some sort of smash bros anime-opera with costumes and everything... also the Shredder... and Ness appears to be Little Slugger... And if Link happens to actually be up there like I think, he looks like Robin Hood.

LMAO oh god. It's Mature Mario. He has finally come.

There's a bunch of other crazy stuff on that website besides that. Just follow the link at the bottom of the page.

That's awesome...
15th September 2005, 5:35 PM
Who did? I don't recall anyone ever saying "Mario should grow up".

I think they're male... :) Do words suffice for such weirdness? Mario Damacy A whole page of opposite-gender Mario characters... http://asame2.web.infoseek.co.jp/mariof5.html It's the 'Power Sex Reversal Mushroom', according to babelfish... http://monoluna.client.jp/rakugaki/ml_o10.gif Uh... is that a Koopa? :) But don't worry, here's Mario...

Some of those pictures captioned with "you can't explain this" would make for a good Adult Swim "before and after commercial break" screen in the style they have now for their anime. You know, that freaky stuff like "Why did you forget?" with some bleeding deer painted on a wall.

Is that a ghost coming out of Mario's mouth next to disturbing Wario? I've seen that before in anime, and I really have no idea what that's supposed to mean. Like, he's dying and his spirit is escaping his body or what?

Wario is stealing Mario's soul, I suppose.

Isn't that Ken from Street Fighter?

Don't you know Princess Peach Toadstool when you see her? :)
As for the Wario picture, I don't know... the caption only says "In case of power rival of sex reversal mushroom", according to Babelfish. Something about soul-stealing or death or something seems like a decent guess, though...

It's a common anime cliche for someone overcome by stress [i.e. passing out].
Sometimes you get the scorpion.

The gender-changing reminds me of Ranma.
20th September 2005, 2:55 PM
So when they pass out, their spirit leaves their body?
Ranma?

Ranma 1/2, a story so idiotic I'm not sure I actually read that right.

It was fairly popular in the US and Japan back in the early 90s. I never watched it much myself though.
Oh and I got it wrong, he turned into a girl when he came into contact with COLD water and back into a guy with hot water.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.

Popular in the US? I was alive during the early 1990's and don't recall seeing that show ANYWHERE.

Well, popular among anime fans in the US anyway. Back when VHS tapes cost $40+ and had about two episodes.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
20th September 2005, 4:46 PM
Me neither. I've only heard it about it from anime fanatics. Personally, I never found it all that interesting myself. I heard it was a great martial arts comedy, but the plot sounds dumb, you know, like it was done by a two years old boy.
20th September 2005, 6:26 PM
I've seen the first two seasons of Ranma... it's alright, but not one of the best animes ever. It went on for seven seasons... and they made it that way by making sure nothing. ever. changed. Just semi-connected stories which always end up with the status quo. Even in the end... the movies don't resolve anything either. So stupid... that wasn't the only problem with the show either (I don't like some of the charictarizations/attitudes in the show, for instance), but it's decent enough to be worth watching if you like anime, I'd say.
20th September 2005, 7:12 PM
Sorry, but the entire plot device GR described seems about as intriguing as the last Disney made-for-Disney channel movie I skipped past...

It's a comedy not some serious drama.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
21st September 2005, 8:23 AM
Yeah. It's a comedy, and doesn't take it seriously at all... that's not really a problem, but it does avoid really answering many of the questions raised. And as I said, because of its nature of a serial comedy, no character has any character development to speak of...
Oh, and did I mention how dumb the overall plot is? I mean, not the "guy who turns into girl when hit by cold water" part, but what they do with it... Ranma, of course, as the main character, has that magical "anime main character attractiveness" and most of the characters in the show of the other gender like him... the only twist on it is that as a female he has some of the male characters after him. Ha ha... okay... but it gets old after a while, episode after episode without resolving anything ever... still, just entertaining enough that I did finish renting the dvds of the two seasons the store had. Oh yes, the first season's opening and ending songs are better than the second season's ones, I think. :)
21st September 2005, 12:53 PM
Some comedies have character development, though I suppose really silly ones like Ranma wouldn't.
21st September 2005, 12:58 PM
Of course some do, I was just describing this one.
