It's advertising-speak of course, don't take it too seriously... but yeah, it is a good idea (though I'm not sure how many people will actually be buying the things...). I mean, if wireless controllers are so popular these days, why not? :)

They had wireless back then, but it was just a little in the infrared, so it got scattered too easily. This is nice, but yeah, it's not unblockable by any means. It's just less blockable.

It's actually not that hard to block, since practically everything that uses radio anymore uses the 2.4 GHz range, from phones to routers to GMRS radios... you name it. They need to expand more in the 5.8 GHz area.
Um, shining other light sources doesn't "block" it you know. Light lacks the strong and weak nuclear forces, so light can pass directly through other light. However, I can see how the reciever may be confused and the signal could be drowned out, in the same way that in direct sunlight you can't make out if the light in your GBA SP is on or off, for example.

I could do that. Or I could continue to collect and play original NES games with this wireless controller. In the very least it's an interesting little item to own.
I can remember renting Back to The Future for NES. I loved the movie and as soon as I found out there was a game I had to play it. Boy was I dissapointed! :p One of the hardest fucking games I've ever played. And not in a good way like Ninja Gaiden.
When they say that "you can play every Nintendo game ever made", I'm pretty sure that they ONLY mean NINTENDO games, from EAD or Hal.

However, there's hope so long as Nintendo can make some deals with other companies. Look at their line up of NES games on GBA (which I will never buy). At first it was just Nintendo's stuff, but they made a deal with both Hudson and Konami and now Bomberman and some Castlevania games have come on in.
The real problem is some companies have gone out of business, and some are owned by competitors, and some others are just mean. Plus, Nintendo does have to actually work out the deals with each of these companies. The thing is, these things take time and effort, and Nintendo can't do EVERYTHING, just a few things they consider worth it at the time and then they move on. lazy tends to fall into the same trap I used to. I imagine something awesome that is TECHNICALLY allowed by the laws of physics, but I never actually think through how feasible it is in the sense of both manpower and end payoff for the company. I've had to disappoint myself by a massive degree by starting to do that....
The real problem is this. Every single Rare game that had Donkey Kong in it, that's owned by Nintendo as part of the deal when MS bought them. We'll be seeing DKC on there and all. However, Banjo is Rare's property. MS has let them work on GBA games for now simply because the money they make from the game sales make up for any potential sales losses the XBox would suffer to the GBA (though they really don't go around getting ALL their companies to make GBA games, make it too attractive and it will hurt more than it helps...). The question is this. Would the pretty minor profit MS would gain from some VERY cheap game sales of stuff like Banjo-Kazooie on the Revolution make up for the possibly minor advantage the Revolution would gain from having that game?
I may have mentioned this before but, I see this situation playing out more like this...
"Sir, Nintendo wants to know if we'll allow them liscensing rights to download all the non DK games from past systems onto their revolution system, in exchange for a minor cut of the profits made."
"No, I think I have a better idea..."
Consumer: "Wow! I can download Battletoads onto the 360!
Nintendo: ...This is dumber than that time I turned the stairs into a slip and slide...

Yes, they were referring only to Nintendo-developed/published titles, but I'm also sure that they will work with third parties to try to get their lineups for the service, as you say. Actually, Nintendo has said that they are at least thinking about what to do for that. I'm sure we'll see stuff from the big third party publishers that still exist.
As you say though, the real question will be games from now-dead companies. Not much chance of seeing them, I think, unfortunately... anything else could get released, though I doubt they just release EVERYTHING. After all, you wouldn't want to make you fans TOO happy, right? :) So release some and randomly hold some back for no apparent reason (if you really want to be great, release them in Japan but not here as well!)... :D

Sony (or Sony Imagesoft, as they called their games division for a while) also released Nintendo games, of course. I doubt we'll be seeing those ones either... except for a few weird exceptions like Wipeout 64, which because it was published by Midway might manage to get releleased (either for Rev. or DS), despite the fact that it was developed by a team that's now a Sony first-party developer, and was being bought by Sony at the time they developed the game. :)
