Is anyone watching it? I'm stuck at work. Keep us updated on any cool stuff you hear. It looks like they are archived too, so I'll watch it when I get home.
17th May 2005, 9:12 AM
I'm going to watch it from work. :D
17th May 2005, 9:24 AM
I wish I could watch it from work. I want to hear the great Reggie speak.

Thanks, Smoke!

studio64 this time? Last night it was the one Lazy suggested... okay then...
17th May 2005, 10:47 AM
WTF that conference sucked. They showed some cool things (New Mario Bros, M&L 2, GBA mini), but they didn't show shit on the Revoluion! Fuck! No Mario 128, no Rev demos! Fuck fuck fuck!
Sony won this year's conference.
17th May 2005, 10:50 AM
They really meant they wouldn't showcase the Revolution then.

That conference fucking SUCKED. They didn't show anything new expcept for a couple new DS games and a new handheld that nobody needs!
If this is all Nintendo is going to show at E3... consider them in third place even behind MS for the show. What fucking bullshit. Biggest letdown since connectivity. DAMMIT.
17th May 2005, 11:05 AM
Oh come on, it wasn't that bad... I'd take it over MS's mediocre conference, anyway. :) And hopefully we will hear more soon... yes, Nintendo should have shown Revolution games. But the fact that they didn't doesn't make me hate the thing... it just means that once again Nintendo is lagging behind the competition.
17th May 2005, 11:12 AM
Nintendo didn't show anything! No third-party announcements, no controller, no demo reel, only a couple of new DS games, a few new GC games, no Mario 128, no indication of what makes the Revolution "revolutionary". The conference was a HUGE letdown for me. Seriously, this was the worst Nintendo conference since connectivity.
17th May 2005, 11:21 AM
I wasn't expecting nearly as much as you, so I'm happier. I do think they definitely should have showed Rev. game footage, but if they do during E3 it'll be fine.
17th May 2005, 11:24 AM
I doubt they will. It's not even the lack of Rev stuff that really dissapoints me, but of DS and GC stuff as well. They announced one new DS game and a bunch of Mario sports and dance titles. *sigh*
17th May 2005, 11:46 AM
Yeah, a bit thin, but... I'm hopeful...
17th May 2005, 1:06 PM
Nintendo could have shown a bag full of poo and it would have been better than the Xbox conference. As it stands though...SMASH BROTHERS ONLINE YOU MORONS!!!
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 1:14 PM
They didn't show it! We already knew there'd be a new SSB online for the Rev!
17th May 2005, 1:22 PM
What? Are you serious? Did you really think that they wouldn't make another SSB game???
17th May 2005, 1:32 PM
It's going to be ready at launch though, ONLINE at launch. I'd say that's definitely something we couldn't have been sure of before now, given Nintendo's reluctance to accept anything dealing with online.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 1:33 PM
Dude, online was announced at GDC.
17th May 2005, 1:40 PM
But this confirms that Nintendo is truly willing to embrace online gaming full on, and not "Well, if companys WANT TO they can take our system online". Nintendo is going online BIG TIME. Which is good. And its free! But we already knew that.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 1:52 PM
I already knew all of this stuff.
17th May 2005, 2:03 PM
I did! We've been talking about this for months now!
17th May 2005, 2:07 PM
You're in denial!
17th May 2005, 2:16 PM
That doesn't make any sense. I was super-hyped about Nintendo's E3 showing, and I can admit that they fucked up big time. This is killing me, don't you realize that?? But being in denial helps no one.
17th May 2005, 2:19 PM
Being in denial is better than stressing out, especially since we still don't know everything. Things will probably start even out in the next few days.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 2:33 PM
I've learned that being in denial never helps. Ever.
17th May 2005, 2:36 PM
Being in denial is not being true to yourself.
17th May 2005, 6:22 PM
Quote:Nintendo could have shown a bag full of poo and it would have been better than the Xbox conference. As it stands though...SMASH BROTHERS ONLINE YOU MORONS!!! Yes, on both counts. :)
17th May 2005, 6:34 PM
Micrsoft actually showed GAMES though.
17th May 2005, 6:44 PM
Only 2 or 3 of them were even worth mentioning and everything else was plain embarrassing to watch.
"We plan to reach an audience of 1 BILLION consumers with the Xbox360!" "With the Xbxo360 controller you can achieve a state of Zen!" It was horrifying.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 6:49 PM
Still better than Nintendo's pitiful show! At least with MS we knew that it wouldn't be anything special.
17th May 2005, 6:49 PM
Yet Nintendo's was still better... :)
17th May 2005, 6:52 PM
Not really. The only new thing they showed was a super short clip of M&L2.
17th May 2005, 6:57 PM
It wins because it wasn't mind-numbingly stupid.
17th May 2005, 6:59 PM
It loses because it was their most dissapointing conference ever, next to connectivity.
17th May 2005, 7:03 PM
Nintendo showed [and told] me enough to get me excited about hearing more, MS showed [and told] me enough to get me to decided that I don't really want the Xbox360. Therein lies the difference.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 7:05 PM
My excitement for the Revolution actually dropped because of the conference.
17th May 2005, 7:09 PM
Because you were expecting them to show something huge like they were going to buy Capcom and Square and the Revolution was going to have a 3D holographics display and be able to play the Final Fantasy movie in realtime while playing 80's rock music!!
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
17th May 2005, 7:09 PM
Well, you are the anomaly then. I agree with GR's assessment, quite definitely.
17th May 2005, 7:12 PM
They were going to show a demo reel. Even Matt from IGN was shocked that they decided not to show anything. And they also didn't mention anything about all of the big Japanese third-party support that's supporting the Revolution. They held back just about everything. Why do you think the conference was just 58 minutes long, compared to Sony and MS' 2 hours?
It was a massive dissapointment, and you two are the anomaly here. Every other Nintendo fan on the internet is as upset as I am. |
