In the tradition of the old Knights vs Samurai debate, I ask you, which one would win/is cooler? Ninjas, or Pirates?

Depends. Real ninjas, or Ninja Gaiden ninjas? And the pirates, are they special nanoage Space Pirates with plasma beams or regular Pirates of the Carribean?

Ninjas can kill anyone they want! Ninjas cut off heads ALL the time and don't even think twice about it. These guys are so crazy and awesome that they flip out ALL the time. I heard that there was this ninja who was eating at a diner. And when some dude dropped a spoon the ninja killed the whole town. My friend Mark said that he saw a ninja totally uppercut some kid just because the kid opened a window.

    Now that's REAL Ultimate Power!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you don't believe that ninjas have REAL Ultimate Power you better get a life right now or they will chop your head off!!!

And that's why ninjas are cooler.

Visit Real Ultimate Power for more about ninjas.

Yeah, BUT pirates sail around and shoot people all the time and put sparklers in their beards to freak people out and have cool swords! They ride around in those awesome boats and kill people just for looking at them, or being rich, or for being on a ship that didn't sink immediatly after being shot with many cannons. And they become pirate ghosts, and drive around in pirate ghost ships, and they still kill people!

Ninjas drink TEA. Anyway, pirates drink ale, ALE, not coffee, and yes, they have flipped out and destroyed entire port towns because their ale was too warm. They say if some of 'em stare at ya, it's like the burnin' rage of the devil himself, and that alone has driven stronger fellows than I MAD.

But I'm just defending the looser here. I love BOTH of them! You know what the best is? Pirate ninjas! They carry a stock pistol in one hand and a katana in the other, and have the weirdest outfits in the universe, which much like pirate and ninja outfits, is both AWESOME and hilarious to beholden unto. And the accent, the ACCENT! Nothing can withstand that combined accent!

No way man! Pirates could do things like SHOOT the ninja, even if it's like one bullet every half hour, one's enough! It's like those romantic fencers versus cowboys (Zorro, NOOO!!!). *makes mental note of fencer vs cowboy debate* Pirates have awesome fighting techniques, like Kermit the frog, or Cervente from Soul Calibur, or the mighty insult sword fighting of Monkey Island, where the one with the most razor sharp WIT will throw the enemy off guard mentally and win!

I say it's an even match.

Next question, since pirates and ninjas can have afterlife spirits, which one of their GHOSTS would win?

Ninjas don't usually use katanas. They mostly use projectile weapons and weapons that don't take up too much space when they run around all stealth-like. Their swords were much smaller than Samurai swords and were mainly used for stabbing rather than slicing limbs off.

I'd say that pirates could beat ninjas if they were the kind of pirates from Jackie Chan's "Project A". Those guys kick ass.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of pirates catch bullets in their teeth, and a few bite chunks out of their own swords. It's harder for pirates to catch bullets between their teeth because they usually don't have the full set.

And ninjas, ninjas have like those stars that they throw, and one time I saw a ninja tie this guy up and tossed a star at him from like 100 feet away and take out his eye, and that looked like it HURT.

    ...What?

Oh, and I found out something. You can prefix ANYTHING with the word "ninja" OR the word "pirate", and it sounds spiffy because of it!

    Watch...

Ninja flatbread! Ninja sword! Ninja laser!
Pirate booty! Pirate clock! Pirate magic!

LOL, this crap again ? Maybe all I have to say is that historically, during the Sengoku period of Japan, there was no law, and piracy has terrible all along the coast of East Asia, and they originated from a Japanese pirate group called the "Wokou" or what the Chinese called "dwarves." Hehe, of course, when law and order came back with the Tokugawa Shogunate, and ninja traditions unified under an actual government banner, ninjas became real government undercover agents - and they did play a serious role in eliminating these damned pirates... guns or no guns, the Wokou were cleaned out by the Japanese within a few decades.

MIght I remind you once again, that guns and cannons were common place in East Asia in all military institutions by the 12th century. Here we are talking about 15th-16th century era.

Its ironic that how in those days, Japanese pirates used to pirate Chinese soils. Today, Chinese people pirate Japanese software rampantly.

Someone's taking this way too seriously... We are just joking around here, and not one of us actually believes what we type.

First we touch, and we hurt each other
Then we tear our hearts apart.
We are too close, and I can feel the pain
    Fill my empty heart

Is this pain too much for me?
    Can I stay the same?
When this pain consumes my heart
will I be able to hold onto myself?

Kindness is something I don't want or need!
The sunshine would just dissolve me into light
Give me a pain as pleasing as your sight
So I can feel you all the day and night!
(And keep me from fading away...)

Even when we behold each other
Somehow our eyes do not meet.
And when you hold me in you strong embrace
    Still I feel no heat.

But it gives me such delight
    To feel you closer now.
I know I am true to myself
Though it cuts deep into my heart somehow...

Kindness is something I don't want or need!
The sunshine would just dissolve me into light
Give me a pain as pleasing as your sight
So I can feel you all the day and night!
(And keep me from fading away...)

Kindness is something I don't want or need!
The sunshine would just dissolve me into light
Give me a pain as pleasing as your sight
So I can feel you all the day and night!
(And keep me from fading away...)

    *plays bagpipes for no raison*

Now get into the spirit of this or leave! Nah, I'm messin' with ya, you're alright!

So you like Samurai more than ninjas? But, but ninjas are so...ninja! Ninjas have that awesome combination of raw skill and magical powers like that mirror image thing and shadow melding! I mean, magic man, like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, with that magical flying and standing on weak little twigs!

Samurai are much cooler than ninjas. They're like cowboys with a code of honor and great martial arts abilities.

There are also many more great Samurai movies than Ninja ones.

Alot of ninjas held samurai titles as well. And no, ninjas don't have magical powers. I suppose I'm not much of a person to talk because I don't study it, nor know alot about it, but supposedly, learning ninjitsu is an auxiliary to the martial arts you already know, and likewise, samurais, or any martial artist, could call themselves a "ninja" if they learned techniques that taught them how to be stealthy, assassinate in better ways than confronting someone in the middle of the street and killing them in a duel for example. Of course, I guess technically, ninjas are also a government granted title, so I guess the word shinobi might fit better.

Oh well, whatever, the idea is to save the honor for those who deserve it. What are you going to do with guys you need dispatched but can't do it any other way ? Or maybe intelligence gathering ? For example, the CIA doesn't send its agents out to face terrorists down in a cowboy gun duel.

Not real ninjas, I'm talking all the fictional ninjas, like every ninja in anime! They certainly have magical powers!

Hehe, well magic is just illusionary art, and so is the magic of a ninja. They're mind tricks, not anything mystical, but anime is ...well its anime...

Oh don't get all "magic means illusions, and the new millenium started in the year 2001!" on me! Magic has multiple definitions, and one of them is breaking the laws of physics, which ninjas in anime and video games do all the time. And if you think the new millenium started in 2001 then why don't you think the new century started in 2001, and 1901, and the new decades started in 2001 and 1981! Same principle, smarmy little smarty pants, so explain it to me, person that never actually said anything about the year stuff, but ends up getting treated like they said it for no good reason!

Well, the 21st century started in 2001. There really shouldn't have been a debate about it... its a fact that, according to our calendar system, since there was no year zero the centuries and millenia start on the first year after the zero year... I'm not sure about decades, actually, but I bet that by the rules of our calendar they actually should be that way too...

Yeah, they COULD be that way, but why worry about it? I mean, it's 1000 years right now since 1000 years ago, and why isn't there a year 0? Christ wasn't born 1 year old! There had to be a 0 year if it's based on when Christ was born, right? 2000 just looks a lot more natural.

Newtonian physics are outmodded anyway, since Einsteinian physics fully explain everything they did. Einsteinian physics will soon be replaced by Quantum physics, since it seems they will explain everything Einstein physics does, and more. The only reason the old physics are even used is because they still accuratly explain their scope and are easier to do math with, they are still wrong on larger scales.
