We all know they do. They suck. They're the Evil Empire. Let's discuss this.

Come on, New York's a fine city. Besides, the rest of the world refers to the entire US as yankees.

New York is a fun city, but it does smell, and I attribute that smell to the evil stench of the Yankees. Either that or the general crappiness of the Mets.

I'm not bashing New York, I'm not even bashing the Mets! This is about the MLB franchise, the Yankees! They suck---thats what we're discussing.

You know who really sucks? Bandwagoners. Also, both the Red Sox and Yankees. Too bad there aren't more than just those two teams in the MLB. Sure seems that way, anyways.

    I dunno about baseball.

But here's a list of football teams I hate.

    1. BALTIMORE RAVENS: They are evil ratbirds, 53 felons wearing pads. And they beat us today. Badly. :(
    2. CLEVELAND BROWNS: See above... though they aren't nearly as good.
    3. DALLAS COWBOYS: Even though I was rooting for them today, this team is a bandwagon-magnet
    4. TENNESSEE TITANS: They beat my team too often. How can they still be so good even with so few good players?
    5. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: These guys are either paying off NFL Brass, or they use evil magic, because they get so, so many lucky draws. Their game against Indy is proof. Should have never won a Super Bowl, much less two. I still hope Tom Brady's neck gets broken.

It's called chemistry. Maybe the Steelers should think about working on that.

Same reason the Marlins won the World Series last year. They didn't have the best team around, but they had the best team chemistry.

I care more about beating the Yankees than winning the World Series, I think... right now anyway. And finishing second and getting the wild card doesn't count (even if we were to play them and beat them in the ALCS). That's the cheap way out.

Well, ABF, I dunno; I mean despite this horrible streak we're on now (3L), we still have an almost certain hand on the wild card. That's all that REALLY matters. The chances of us nabbing the Eastern pennant are fading away ever-so-slowly. They're magnificent losing streak (22-0 to the Indians!!) is over, and our magnificent winning streak (22 wins out of 25) is dead as well. We can only hope for the wild card.

It's because they're all jealous. The Yankees are the most popular sports team out of all the four major North American sports, by far, and that is because they win so often. Fans of teams like the Red Sox which always lose get jealous of all the talent and popularity their "rivals" have, and it's never enough for just their team to fail, and leave it at that. Others have to as well.

Apparently it's wrong to amass all the most powerful units in the entire game for yourself in order to win. I guess I shouldn't be using Mewtwo or any of the other legendary Pokemon, because talent=cheap now.

I know we get into the playoffs with the Wild Card the same as if we had won, but that doesn't mean that I have to like it! :) Really, it feels cheap to get in in second place... but that's just what I think.

The Yankees are indeed the most popular team in sports. They are also the most hated, though, you know. They have so much money that they can afford to pay such a ridiculously high salary... tens of millions of dollars higher than number two... it just isn't fair! So they always win and we always lose... it stinks.

What part of PACT WITH SATAN don't you understand? If there were salary caps, they'd just be a regular team---but its because they have such a big budget year after year that they keep clinching the best players every time---so they'll keep on winning. It's not even remotely fair; there are so many teams who have to TRY AND WIN with only regular players---sometimes a few of us get lucky with players like Curt Shilling and Manny Ramirez. How long before they Yankees buy them off eludes me.

So basically it's kind of how the U.S. basketball team reigned supreme in the Olympics for so many decades? They're evil because they're more talented?

Ah but this past olympics showed that money isn't everything, and that the rest of the world has caught up to us in terms of talent. The U.S. didn't even get the bronze, did they? So sad...

No. Nintendo is definetly not evil. For some reason, nobody can understand that this is a business. You gotta spend money to make money, and buying players like A-Rod will give the Yankees a great deal of popularity. Also, every time a team makes the playoffs, they make a lot of money from merchandise and raised ticket prices. If buying the best players in the game will give a team a playoff berth, then there isn't much other teams can do about that, except build on their farm teams and become contenders themselves. Case in point, the Minnesota Twins, and the NHL's Ottawa Senators. Being a big fan of a small-market team myself, I really hate it when all the best players are dealt to teams with endless pockets by the time their contract is up. Examples, NL-Cy Young winner Pedro Martinez to the Red $ox, Javiar Vasquez to the Yankees, and Vladimir Guerrero (who I still consider an Expo) going to the Angles.

Red Sox fans disgust me, as well as any baseball fan who despises the Yankees on the sole basis of their payroll. Seeing as how they are Red Sox fans the most often, the vast majority of them are hypocrites. One look at the Red Sox GIGANTIC payroll, as well as players bought in much the same way that Yankees players are (one is quick to forget that many Yankees stars, such as Derek Jeter, Bernie Williams, and Mariano Rivera have spent their entire careers with the Yankeers organization) only proves that they are a bunch of sore losers who can't blame themselves for losing, but only the Yankees and all their money. $125, 000, 000 just isn't enough to win a World Series on, I guess. Yeah, try telling that to Florida.

Uh... Rangers vs. Yankees would only be the ALCS (or ALDS), not the World Series, given that they are in the same league...

What am I hoping for? For the stupid A's to lose. But I don't like the Angels or Rangers at all either, so really I'm just hoping for whoever wins the AL West to lose... I like the Twins though and it's great to see them doing well. As for the NL, I thought that Atlanta would do it again and they did, despite so many detractors... I'm hoping the Giants get into the playoffs. And the Cubs, if the Giants can get ahead of the Dodgers (I hope they do!) -- I don't like Texas and the Astros are right behind them. :)

If it can't be the Sox who win, I'd rather it were anyone BUT THE YANKEES---or the Cubs. They're cursed too, I hear.

I heard that the Cubs are also 'cursed' because they wouldn't let a goat into Wrigley Field in the '45 World Series; or something like that, and it was a good-luck goat, and they've sucked horribly ever since--never been back to a World Series, let alone won one.

The Cubs haven't won since 1908 and haven't even BEEN in the Series since ... the '45 maybe? So I'd say their curse goes back well before 1945...

For some reason that picture I posted didn't work, but it was a pic of the goat and his owner. It the 1945 series that the goat was brought to by Bill Sianis, and the Cubs haven't been back to the World Series since then, and they haven't won the Series since 1908. There is a bar named after the goat called the Billy Goat Tavern which was the basis for the"Cheezborger, Cheezborger" sketches from the early days of SNL.
