Vampires, obviously. Who do you think invented zombies to start with? Zombies are mindless, whereas vampires use their dark forbidden magics to control vast armies of zombies! They would just stare and boom, they have a vast horde to fill their gothic castles with.

Yeah, is it magical or technological? Either way, they are stupid and a good vampire can easily just get them to serve it's own needs.
