    Woohoo! From GAF:

Quote:....Rockstar also annnounced it planned to have the next installment of the Grand Theft Auto franchise ready for reelase in the "fourth fiscal quarter of 2004". Rockstar also plans to release Manhunt for Xbox and the PC as well as an extension of the Grand Theft Auto franchise for the Game Boy Advance during fiscal 2004.

Awesome, now I just hope that they'll use one of those spiffy 3D engines for the game.

This isn't the first GB GTA game... I seem to remember a GBC one...

Yeah but it was just like the top-down GTA's. The 3D perspective changes everything.

    Erm

You think it's the same whether it's 2D or 3D? Is Zelda identical in terms of gameplay to LttP even though it's basically just the same game but with a different perspective?

No, of course not... and I can't say for sure because I haven't played the original GTA much, but I know I've heard people say that GTA3 wasn't so much a big gameplay change as it was a graphical change.

It was as much of a gameplay change from the 2D GTAs as OoT was from LttP. Same basic gameplay, but very different implementation and design.

Makes sense, similar gameplay adapted to 3d changes it to a fair degree...

GTA2 and GTA3 are hugely different experiences. I don't know if it's just the change in graphics, but GTA3 was many times more fun than the previous games.

Definitely. The first two felt like you were playing the game from a helicopter overlooking the town, while the third and fourth games felt like you were in an actual city.

GTA 1 and 2 also didn't exactly have the best quality 2d graphics in the world.

Everyone always says how "free" the game is, but I can't do good deeds or be a good guy at all! Plus, no interaction at ALL with common citizens except via bat.

Well, you can do the ambulance, taxi, police, or fire missions, but they get boring pretty quick.

Yeah, when the game's about being a bad guy you wouldn't expect the 'good' parts to be too deep...

DJ, it has a huge amount of freedom and openness, far more than most games... you can do anything you want... oh, sure, most all of that has no point and will get you nowhere in the actual game, but they give you the freedom to just drive around and do stuff (read: destruction). Most games don't do that.

Now the next game should let you do things like blow up buildings... :D

Oh yeah, and how can you be so sure that it'll be 3d?

GTA has a great amount of freedom as in you can run around or drive around the city whenever you want to and however long you want to. If you have a good enough imagination you can come up with new ways to play the game, new games inside of the game.
