well if he did win that would be good marketing for california.

I dont know much about california problems other then it is a big one and everyone is broke.

But hey one advantage Arnold has over that is that he has alot of buddies in hollywood that have alot of money.

There making jokes already that if gray davis wins , Arnold can go back and kill his mom before he is born.

If I lived in California and were of legal voting age I'd vote for Arnold.

I really hope Davis can get through this... he's been a fine governor. Most states have budget deficits so that's not really his fault... or at least a democrat should win, but preferably Davis. He doesn't deserve to lose his job like this.

Let's see: He has a 20% approval rating, several million Californians are ACTIVELY trying to get rid of him, and Dennis Miller doesn't like him. I'd say the odds are pretty stacked against him.

Haha, Dennis Miller hates everybody. He probably hates you even though he doesn't know you.

I hope Arnold doesn't win this. I want to see a T4, damnit!

I hope my uncle votes for Arnold, Hell their both imigrants with dual citizenship. The economic crunch is probaily hurting my uncles business in Laguna beach.

Why everyone hates Grey Davis, He made promises he not only didnt keep but never even attempted too do, My guess. What caused this was the tech boom to blow up and California being caught unprepared , Then you toss in 9/11 and the war and Iraq and corrupt corruption like Enron.

Bush would benifit greatly from a plaqued Grey Davis Democrat, It would help him campaign in california as he didnt do so well last time in that state and being the Biggest makes it valueable for votes,

But if Arnold wins then Bush will have to give ferderal aid or else a failed Republican Goverment wont help him much.If that happens it would be risky for Bush but good for California.

Arnold is Popular and he has done community chairity work for more then a decade, Being known as the good guy puts him in higher favour then your average Political rat. Swarts may even help get younger voters,He is liked and promoted by many.

What Arnold needs is a Economic plan that is credible A.S.A.P
if he stumbles in this area that it is already over.

But being a Superstar might be helpful in getting the business world to back him and endorse California.

To watch Grey Davis get recalled and Arnold possibly become governor would be the greatest act of democracy I've seen in a long time. It's really exciting to know that we the people have power over those who have power over us, and if we are not pleased about the way they are doing their job, we can make changes and we are not restriced to the age old ways of electing.

I do hope they put Davis's name on the ballet. It would be completely unfair and spoil my excitement for democracy. Those who strongly support Grey will do their best to keep him in office. Those who hate his guts will get out there and vote for someone else in this special election. I can guarantee this will be the largest voter turn out in California's history should a recall election take place. Very exciting!

Sorry, but he cannot be on the ballot. The law for this process is quite clear.

Question one. Do you want to recall Gov. Grey Davis? Yes/No

If you say No, end here.

If you say Yes. continue.

Which of these candidates would you like to see replace Gov. Davis?

(list)

End.

Now... if over half of the people who vote say No to question one, Davis stays in office. However, even if 50.01% say Yes and 49.99 say No, then he is irrevocably gone, and whoever got the most votes among the list is immediately governor.

Yes, so if Ahnold gets 25% of the votes, Davis (in the No column) 45%, and other people split the other 30% of the vote, Ahnold is the governor.

Now THAT is a incredibly stupid way to do a election.

That sounds incredibly fair to me. Davis's name is still on the ballot. Voters get to decide whether he stays in office or not. I do think, however, those who want Grey Davis to stay governor should have the right to vote for his replacement after question one. That way, even if Grey is recalled, supporters still have a say in who the next governor is.

Fairness. Pfft.

Didn't your mother ever teach you life's most important lesson?

"Life isn't fair."

A smart man will deal with that and try to create advantages. A stupid man will do nothing but complain. So far Greyout has proven himself to be one of the latter, only proving that he really is not gubernatorial timber. Let's see if he can balls-up for this recall election.

I thought even if you did vote no for a re-call then you still got to choose who you'd want because it's a seperate question

That might be true... I'm not sure. But it is still true that if 51% say they want to recall him, whoever gets the most votes of those 200 candidates will get the governorship... and Davis isn't one of the choices. That is just ridiculous... if the recall succeeds the "winner" will probably have gotten FEWER votes than Davis! Absurd!

True. But if the recall passes by a few points, it is VERY likely that the winner will have gotten FAR FEWER votes than Davis did in the first part... which is just insane.

True. But since Davis can't be on the second question list, the 'no' recall vote well may be split, leaving it open for someone with fewer than the number of votes Davis got could easily win.

As for Ahnold, I bet his ratings will go way down as issues become talked about -- something he has so far not discussed.

looks like Arnold may not be in 1st place anymore, but there are alot of undecided voters
Quote:Aug. 16, 2003 | SACRAMENTO -- Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger are in a tight race to succeed Gray Davis if voters decide to oust the Democratic governor in a historic recall election Oct. 7, according to a Field Poll released Saturday.

Bustamante, a Democrat, had the backing of 25 percent of those questioned, compared to 22 percent for Schwarzenegger, a Republican.

Six other contenders among the 135 candidates on the recall ballot are trailing far behind with only single-digit support, according to the Field Research Corp.'s survey of 448 likely voters.

The survey was conducted over a four-day period that ended Wednesday. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 5 percentage points.

Republican State Sen. Tom McClintock was supported by 9 percent of those polled, while 8 percent favored former GOP gubernatorial nominee Bill Simon. Former baseball commissioner Peter Ueberroth, also a Republican, got 5 percent.

Political columnist Arianna Huffington, an independent, had 4 percent; Green Party candidate Peter Camejo had 2 percent and Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt, a Democrat, was supported by 1 percent of those surveyed.

Five percent said they supported other candidates; 5 percent said they supported none of the candidates and 14 percent were undecided.

But the results appeared to be highly volatile, with 44 percent of those backing a candidate saying they might change their minds before voting

It would be nice if people voted who they thought would do a better job, rather than because, 'I'm a democrat...so I vote for a democrat...a-har!'

Anyways, I'd personally vote for Arnold...
