That reminds me of an old game I wanted to get when it came out...I think it was for the desktop, it was called "Star Wars: Yoda Stories", and it was a simple, but fun-looking 2D game not unlike that of a gameboy quality...anyone ever play it? Looked cute.

Why would bad Star Wars games make me happy?

Because you complained that I never make posts about bad Star Wars-related things, and instead of arguing with you (which would be like arguing with a towel about how wet it is) I decided to make a thread about crappy SW games to shut you up.

    Phantom Menace x3.

Masters of Teras Kasi (don't know how to do the dots) x4.

    Pit Droids x5.

You are missing some, such as Yoda Stories (for PC). It isn't precisely terrible but it sure isn't good... its just barely above bad, IMO.

Now the Game Boy Color port of Yoda Stores... THAT was truly terrible.

And of course the great Force Commander. After so long and so much hype... it was incredibly dissapointing.

Rebellion didn't exactly stink, but it had a terrible interface and was clumsy to play... some people like it though so its not quite in this category.

And you'd probably mention Rebel Assualt 1 or 2 but I liked those games... very simple, but fun...

It's pretty bad. Think Tekken but worse. And Tekken is bad enough...

I never cared for the Tekken games for the same reason why I don't like the DOA series: they're too shallow. Virtua Fighter is the only real option for 3D hand-to-hand fighting games, IMO. It's just so damn fun and so damn deep.

Tekken and DOA aren't bad... yes they are shallow, but that's okay sometimes too...

Not for a one-on-one fighting game. When that's all a game is about you need to have something that will keep you coming back for more. DOA and Tekken are very shallow games and once you've played them for a few days you've pretty much seen and done everything there is to do; there's no real room for advancement. On the other hand with the Virtua Fighter series (and to a lesser extent, Soul Calibur), you could literally play them on a regular basis for years yet still have a lot to learn because the games are so deep. You can of course still have fun with them if you're completely unexperienced, but there's more than enough depth for someone who wants something more than a mindless button-mash-fest in a fighting game.

From Shoe's review of DBZ Ultimate Battle 22:

Quote:If you ever read a review of this game that say "DBZ fans may like this game," they're lying. No one will like this game. And if you do, please pay me a visit, so I can punch you in the brain.

From CJ's review of DBZ Ultimate Battle 22:

Quote:I'm not a huge fan of the series, but I'm pretty sure DBZ creator Akira Toriyama could take a dump in a bag and sell it to you for the same price and you'd get more entertainment value out of it.

I've played some Tekken and DOA... they seem fun. Not super deep and long lasting, but fun...

But yes Virtua Fighter is better. Virtua Figher 4, anyway... that's a very good fighting game.

I still think DOA is fun to play for at least a little while, though... not so sure about Tekken, I've only played that a few times in arcades (I've played DOA2 for DC in a store several times, and DOA3 for a few hours last year).

Everyone here should buy Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution when it comes out in a few months. It's basically Virtua Fighter 4.5, and since Sega is so awesome it's only going to be $20 brand-new (since, unlike stupid Konami, they realize that it would be foolish to sell the game for $50 when the original version is a GH title). VF4 Evo also includes the VF 10th anniversary game, which is basically VF1 but with all of the characters from VF 4 playable. It's so cool!

And now it's time for the "Mr. Apostrophe Learning Hour"!!

Mr. Apostrophe: Hello, kids! It's great to see you again! I'm Mr. Apostrophe and today will learn about some of the many uses that the English language has for me!

    Kids: Yay!

Mr. Apostrophe: When you need to put two words together, such as "it" and "is" you just take the "i" away from "is" and then put me where the "i" was! Then you put the two words together to form "it's"! "It's" as easy as that!

Kids: You're the greatest, Mr. Apostrophe!

Mr. Apostrophe: That's all the time we have for this episode, but join me next time when we learn about possesive nouns! See you then!

DOA2 Hardcore is my favorite fighter, on current systems (I haven't played DOA3 much yet though)
Mortal Combat still rules the fighting genre, at least the old ones, I'm yet to try the new one

Mortal Kombat? Its okay, but not that good... shallow and kind of boring. For 2d fighters I like the SNK ones most... followed by Capcom. Midway's just don't compare.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of Mortal Kombat at all. Never was really. It was just so... ugh. I'm not sure what it was going for with that fighting system, but SF beats it in the simple anything goes comboing, and Killer Instinct certainly beat it in the super complex many different types of predesigned comboing method. SNK is a company I still know best for the only SNK game I have, Crystalis. I wish that the reborn SNK would reaquire the rights to that game from Nintendo (since they did such a terrible job porting the game to GBC, I think the technical term of the way they made it easier would be called "wussifying") and continue that game as a series. That, and the Crystalis main character (who remains nameless, the so called default name when you don't give the character a name being "S N K" and all) could be in a future SNK vs Capcom game. Speaking of which, I wish that the next incarnation of Capcom vs SNK wouldn't JUST be their fighting game characters, but rather just like Marvel vs Capcom or SNK vs Capcom for Neo Geo Pocket Color, in that EVERYONE is there, from Megaman to Arthur.

SNK pretty much just makes fighting games and Metal Slug (side-scrolling shooters, Contra-style) these years... the Neo-Geo had ONE RPG. And it only came out in Japan. Compared to dozens and dozens of fighting games...

Sure there are a lot of them and many are similar, but I just like SNK's 2d fighters the best. Street Fighter is certainly fun too, but not quite as good, IMO.

Oh, and a game with more non-fighting game characters could be cool, but SNK doesn't exactly have many recent non-fighting game characters to use... :)
