yeah, it's been a pretty miserable first week of the season. :bummed:
The home opener's tomorrow, hopefully they can get off to a better start at home...

Oh, great, so we can beat mediocre teams. That'll sure help us against the good teams... you know, the ones we started the season so terribly against...
Also, considering how mediocre he was last year, I'm not sure how sad I am that Carl Crawford is going to miss three months.

Hey, at least your doing better than the Angels.
Sometimes you get the scorpion.

Do you mean our record, or is that also a reference to how Pujols isn't hitting well so far this year...
But on the note of teams starting poorly, the Phillies are somewhat disappointing so far, aren't they. But wow, the Nationals are pretty impressive.

Anyone watching baseball in the last few years might have noticed this, but this article does a very good job of summing up the results of steroids testing, and what it's done to the game -- hitting's way, way down.
http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/804889...t-here-mlb Basically, the problem seems to be that while both pitchers and hitters were all roided up, pitchers have adjusted much faster to the new reality, while hitters haven't. And the results have been pretty bad for the hitters, in terms of run scoring and offense.

So, steroids were the only reason baseball got exciting every few years?

Baseball's still great, the game isn't worse with fewer runs scoring...

No it's worse because there's less steroids and beer, and no runs scoring. :D The red socks here in Salem, god bless them they try.. There like the slow kid who can't figure out shoe tying, your proud of him just for trying..

I guess a dedicated purist won't mind if a game is more boring, but the general population sort of enjoys the thrill of excitement in sports and baseball is one of those games in which exciting events are kind of rare.
