3DS games... Mario, Mario Kart, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, Luigi's Mansion (Luigi's Mansion 3DS? Huh...)

star fox 64 3d - online play, with video of your face as you play.
mariokart - looks good, late 2011
7th June 2011, 8:36 AM
Mario 3DS - First footage, looks pretty good!
Kid Icarus Uprising - new trailer! Game has multiplayer too. I want... Comes with IR cards too? Luigi's Mansion 2 - New announcement. The first Luigi's Mansion was a game they did a 3d version of for a canned GC 3d addon, so it's appropriate it's getting a 3DS sequel... great graphics again too.
7th June 2011, 8:44 AM
Kid Icarus looks neat [except for the horrible voice acting], Luigi's Mansion 2 is cool, and Super Mario 3DS looks great. Everything else has been painfully boring.

WiiU... controller looks like the rumors. Clearly will work with the Wiimote and balance board. Compatible with all Wii games.
Smash Bros. announced for WiiU and 3DS, and the two versions will be intercompatible -- cool. Then, WiiU visual demo showing its power.
7th June 2011, 9:02 AM
WiiU playable on the show floor, with some demos -- NSMB Mii, where your Mii follows you; another mario thing where you chase other players; and a shooter
7th June 2011, 9:13 AM
They needed to show off some big Wii-U games LIVE.

WiiU? Sounds like a 50's sci-fi movie sound effect for alien space ships. Wiiuwiiuwiiuwiiu....

So it's the Nintendo Developer's Roundtable (first one) today, about 3DS games and Skyward Sword. Um, I mean Wii games, but that's the only one of those mentioned so far.
http://wii.ign.com/articles/117/1173797p1.html -Super Mario 3DS is trying to be more like the old games, but in 3d -- it's got flags again, the Tanuki suit, is set in the more classic style world (not Galaxy), etc. -Game plays great -Luigi's Mansion 2 is by Next Level games, with Miyamoto assisting. Miyamoto decided to make it because he wanted to. It's an early 2012 title. -Skyward Sword looks and plays great. The overworld is a giant dungeon, and dungeons are basically dungeons within dungeons. You fly around from place to place on giant birds and can land at different points in the overworld, or fly back through the sky to the hub town in the sky. You will revisit dungeons in this one, so it's not just "go through each dungeon once". New map to make that easier considering that you do need to go back to places later. -Mario Kart definitely 2011
7th June 2011, 6:27 PM
Oh, and the press was banned from asking Pikmin questions. It doesn't sound good for Pikmin 3.
7th June 2011, 6:52 PM
-Wii Vitality Sensor wasn't working in "a wide enough variety of environments" so it's on hold for now. They still want to do something with the idea at some point if/when they can get it working well enough.
-The raccoon suit in Super Mario 3DS can't fly apparently, they think it wouldn't work as well on a small screen? -Miyamoto is sexist and thinks that only boys think about flying, not girls, hence Star Fox, Mario Galaxy, etc. But we knew Miyamoto was sexist a long time ago, so no news there. -Miyamoto teased us about Pikmin again and said that they are working on Pikmin 3 for Wii U. It was moved over to Wii U from the Wii, where it had been in development. He wasn't supposed to mention it, apparently, but did anyway. Continuing the three or so year long trend of hinting at Pikmin in an E3 event without any further information until the next E3, huh?

Right, Miyamoto has nothing to do with Metroid.
And GR, it does matter some.
8th June 2011, 1:50 PM
I just really don't know what your point is. He only thinks that boys dream about flying so he made a game where Mario flies? Um...okay?
Sometimes you get the scorpion.

That is sexist, quite obviously.
Dev conference #2 starting now! http://wii.ign.com/articles/117/1174592p1.html Ubisoft image? Will we get a mention of their upcoming shooter, or will this be the Assassin's Creed game, or what? We'll see!
8th June 2011, 5:15 PM
Sexist? In a way, I guess, but it's more like he doesn't truly understand what his female audience wants.

Yes, because he has preconcieved notions of what men do and like and what women do and like that are outdated. Ie, sexism.
As for this second conference, actually it ended up being Ubisoft focused, that is it was an Ubisoft WiiU event, Nintendo people just watched. They talked in detail about, and showed, two WiiU games, and talked a bit about a third. Ghost Recon Online and the newly announced Killer Freaks from Outer Space (the new IP FPS Ubi talked about yesterday) were shown in depth, and Assassin's Creed WiiU was mentioned. They also said Raving Rabbids would be on WiiU too, though that should be expected. The online and tablet features of the former sound decent -- they discussed how the online mode would work, and how they'd use the tablet. They couldn't discuss network infrastructure / network details, though, like if there'd be unified online, friends codes, etc -- Nintendo wouldn't let them talk about that. Killer Freaks might be amusing... it's a humans vs. alien monster FPS, with some comedy elements and as the name suggests a B-movie style. Some screenshots are available, it's very early and looks okay but not great yet. It uses the WiiU tablet as a controller (though you can use a CC too), with the accelerometer and gyroscope aiming and the analog stick moving. It uses both analog sticks as well as the motion sensing, somehow, and the devs claimed that it was an improvement over regular dual analog FPS controls. I'd need to see more to say. They showed a CG trailer and some multiplayer gameplay, in a mode where one player, with the tablet, played as an alien commander dropping in aliens, while the other, on the TV, played as a player fighting against those aliens. Cool. Assassin's Creed they just mentioned briefly. They have a full team working on the game, and talked about some things they're thinking of using the tablet for. They wouldn't say whether it was a port or a new game, though. Overall, decent roundtable. They couldn't answer many of the questions, frustratingly, but oh well, at least they were asked!

Dude, it's not like he came out said "Hey, I don't want any girls playing my games because they don't understand them, only boys dream about flying so they should be the only ones to play them". Ie. you always turn every little thing into a Supreme Court case.

It's called hyperbole and everyone does it, like you just did!
In other news. http://kotaku.com/5810081/farewell-gamec...t-play-you I'm not sure I get this. The Wii is literally a Gamecube with extra memory and faster processing. It's why the backwards compatibility is perfect, because it doesn't need to emulate anything. If the system can play Wii games, it logically follows it is physically perfectly capable of Gamecube playback. I understand perfectly well that the Wii U will not have Gamecube controller or memory card ports, but it should be possible to simply program the system to convert the Wii-U controller input into Gamecube controller input, as well as create virtual Gamecube memory cards (note that really they should have done that with the Wii). It's not that it kills my interest in the system. It's just that it would be like the Gameboy Advance being able to play Gameboy Color games but not original Gameboy games. The Wii is THAT close to the Gamecube. It seems like such a simple thing to do, and let's face it, if they solve the storage issue then selling old Gamecube games would really be a lucrative market right up there with the rest of the virtual console (Only not so virtual, since they wouldn't even require development of an emulator). Basically I'm saying I'd rather not have to pull my Gamecube out of storage and stick it up there next to my Wii U.
