A new report from the national highway safety administration yesterday announced that the crash recorders recovered in a number of Toyota hybrids indicate no engine malfunctions at all. As a matter of fact according to the report 100% of the crash recorders indicate the accelerator in all the vehicles was pressed, not the break. Many consumers still insist the black boxes are lying.

Personally I think it's kind of odd that litterly hundreds of drivers are so retarded that they cant tell the petals apart. But at the same time we cant argue with the evidence.

Unless of course the NHSA is on the lamb.. I guess only time will tell.

I continue to be suspicious. So is the survey indicating that Toyota buyers on the whole are a lot dumber than drivers of other cars? Because this problem seems to center around Toyotas. If it were random driver error, oughtn't it be a problem aross all brands?

I thought the problem was with the accelerators rather than the engine.

It was my understanding the problem was due to the accelerator sticking down when pressed.

That's what I heard as well. Either it was something to do with the floormats getting stuck or something to do with the actual mechanism itself, but it wasn't a problem with the engine as far as I know.

If it's an electrical problem, the black box recording the acceleration as down might be expected.

That's what Toyota says, but critics say that actually there is an electrical or computer problem Toyota doesn't want to admit and that is causing some of it...

Why doesn't the spokeswoman have a name? And, where's the actual proof that it was a plant?

Not defending Toyota, exactly, but this is shitty journalism, and a lot of people will simply accept it as fact.
