    They say that time is cyclical. Which means that one day, NES will come out again.

    Best NES games... GO GO GO!

    Legacy of the Wizard is, hands down, without question, the greatest game of all time. It wins by sheer size--this game is HUGE... and it's a great, cool, fun, memorable castles & monsters dungeon side-scroller, with good music, and intricate gameplay.

    I mean, just check out this dungeon map!

    Legacy of the Wizard is fun to run around in, until you try to actually play it... it's so confusing, and you can get stuck, and it has 32-character passwords... I have it, and I guess it is good, but actually playing the thing is really frustrating.

    Legacy of the Wizard was one of those really complex NES games that you would never figured out, pre-GameFAQs, unless you had the manual.

    The NES had the best port of Maniac Mansion, mostly because the music was awesome, and none of it has ever appeared in any other version of the game.

    Maniac Mansion is a classic amongst classics.

    Have you played the emulated Legacy with instant save-and-load?

    Aside from the obvious choices [Mario, Zelda], one of my favorites was Guardian Legend. It was a shooter, but it also had adventure elements as well. Plus, the music is all-time classic material.

    I never really got that far in it though.

    The Guardian Legend is a fantastic, fantastic game. Really the only bad thing I can say about it is that I hate 32-character passwords... if you emulate or can deal with that anyway, though, it's just great. Good action-adventure parts, good shooting parts, great game. :)

    Oh yeah, the game's Japanese box art is stunning stuff... none of that completely stupid "eyes and a snake" thing of the US box!

    Well, go ahead and show me the American box now, you mooks.

    I also enjoyed Xenophobe for the NES. And the old Star Trek adventure game--that thing was bad ass and pretty advanced for an 8-bit system. It was surely pressing the enveloped with the technology.

    Yeah, that US TGL boxart is just so bad... and yes, the European art's decent. Nowhere near as great as the Japanese art, but pretty good compared to the US one! For one thing it actually looks something like the game, slightly... something that cannot be said for the US box. I wonder if a better box would have helped it sell any better... as it is it's a cult classic, I'd say, but still, that box can't have helped...

    Has anyone here played a game called Skyshark? It's a third person plane shooter that was developed by Taito in 1988. I consider it to be the greatest third person plane shooter game ever developed. I still pop it into my NES every chance I get.

    No, they cloned the exact poses of the cover art of Rambo (or one of those movies) and Predator, and an Alien. It's not just similar, it's essentially identical.

    It also wasn't an accident. Konami did the same thing with other games -- Metal Gear's cover is a straight ripoff of popular movie covers too.

    Snake was named in honor of Snake Plissken of the movie Escape from New York. Metal Gear's US cover, though, rips off a The Terminator shot of Kyle Reese, evidently. As with Contra, it's a straight copy. They'd never be able to get away with that kind of thing today... that's Kyle Reese there, actually. :)

    Trying to deny reality doesn't change the fact that Konami regularly ripped off movie art in some of their '80s game covers, including Metal Gear and Contra, Darunia. Sorry. :)

    The Burger King, silent, his face void of emotion... the only sound is that of the Burger King, who pumps the 12 guage in his hands.

    "Go. Do what must be done," Darunia said.

    (Later, ABF is sitting at home, posting at Tendo City.)

    ..."and that is why I'm a flaming liberal! In conclusion, I think that all babies should be exterminated, and that President Bush is a Nazi. Furthermo..."

    He is stopped suddenly. He hears a noise outside, in the bushes.

    "Hello?" he asks... he hears only silence.

    Putting on his pink Power Puff Girl slippers, and fixing his face, ABF opens the front door and steps outside. A cool spring breeze is drifting through his yard. The moon is out, but shrouded by clouds. He spies movement in the bushes near his bedroom window.

    "You there, come out of the shadows and be seen!"

    The figure pounces with such speed and violence that ABF is forced to the ground. Squealing like a pig and submissively urinating, ABD pleads for his life, as the Burger King presses the cold steel barrel of his Remington 12 guage into his mouth.

    "Burger King? You--you work for Darunia...! Did he send you? To kill me?"

    Burger King's eyes never convey his inner turmoil, but for a moment, ABF saw compassion within. Then, BK overcame it.

    "No. He is my master."

    "I feel the conflict within you, let go of your hatred! Don't do this."

    "Fuck you. Pussy."

    BANG!
