They were trying to send 'log', as in to log in, but one of the two computers crashed before they could type the third letter. :D Ah, computers...

It also marked the 80th anniversary of the Stock Market Crash of 1929, and the beginning of the Great Depression.

Perhaps the computer crash was a tribute to that event?
