Actually I like a lot of them. There's just more that I would have rather seen. I guess my choices would have been to include new franchises rather than expand on ones already represented. It's okay though. I love what I've seen.

They're never going to be able to include every character that everyone wants. As Picard would say, The line must be drawn here! ("heea!"?)
That said, I'm happy with the roster we have. Could it be better? Of course it could, it could ALWAYS be better. There will ALWAYS be awesome characters to add that will be left out. DJ I really am not holding on to hopes that Ganondorf will play the same this time around. If anything, I'm looking forward to playing as Dedede. From the videos I've seen, he seems to really fit my playstyle. Heck, Fox was my favorite in SSB and I never really cared for him in Melee. Perhaps the same will be with Ganondorf and Brawl. As for Wolf, I'm sure he's different. Fox's rival can't use the same moveset, that would be MADNESS. I'm surprised to see Falco, though. I'm curious as to whether his moveset has changed (as well as Ganondorf, Toon/Young Link, and Ness/Lucas) to fit the whole "no clones" promise Sakurai gave us. But even if not, we're getting a roster of 35 characters with only 4 clones, worst case scenario. I can definitely live with that :D A Black Falcon Wrote:Such a lame selection of new characters, really... a couple are good, but a lot of them... not so much. I don't think I've seen you say one positive thing this entire 12-page thread. Or if you have, the positive post/negative post ratio is staggering. "ABF, did you hear?! They cured cancer!" My students have really been anticipating it. Every morning before school a group of them comes into my computer lab and we look at the latest site update. I had been waiting forever for Ness confirmation but I finally got it when the final roster was leaked the other day. More and more kids have been showing up everyday including kids I've never had in class so the hype is building even with the too-cool high school crowd.

From this point out, I'm going on a SSBB info fast. I've got the characters and if the story is written by the guy who frickin' wrote the Kingdom Hearts story (it is), I actually don't want to spoil it for myself. I mean, it's Smash Bros., and I don't want to spoil the game's "storyline"? What's wrong with me?
Oh wait, I do have to add one thing. It seems Wolf really is more or less a Fox clone. Makes sense. I mean aside from their character, they are basically the same.

ABF- I've never seen Olberman's news show. I can't really handle anybody's news shows, and I dislike politics even more. My endearment comes from the days of Keith Olberman and Dan Patrick on "The Big Show", with an occasional joining of Craig Kilborn, Charlie Steiner, or the rest of the gang. Special memories, there. You can't stop them, you can only hope to contain them.

I played Brawl over this weekend. I went to a party where someone had a modded Wii and a burned copy of the Japanese version. It was awesome, I loved the levels I played and the characters were pretty good. I played as Wolf, Fox, Falco, Pit, Bowser, and Luigi. My friend told me it was slowed down a bit, and I suppose it was, but it wasn't always noticeable or a hindrance. What the creator says is true - its speed is somewhere between Melee and 64.
Some items were the same, but an interesting newcomer (and I don't remember reading about this on the site) is an item you pick up in 3 or 4 parts. Once you get all parts, a cursor appears on the screen, and you can launch some kind of animal (probably a pokemon, but I couldn't tell you which one, as I'm not a fanatic) at somebody. I never got all the parts, so I didn't experience it for myself. 4 taunts is awesome, but I was too wrapped up in the game to try those out. This experience has made me much more excited for this game. I can't wait until its release, though I have a feeling it'll be a while before my room mate or I can snag a copy. :(

Also apparently if you taunt up and down over and over, Samus switches between armored and unarmored. I think that's a bit extreme. Couldn't they just make it as easy as Zelda/Sheik switching? I thought Smash Bros was about simplicity in command inputs.

Well, the problem with that is that Samus is already a defined character. Give her another command so she changes to Zero Suit Samus and she has to lose one of her current attacks.

11th February 2008, 8:10 PM
Yeah, I considered that. It would have to be a button that isn't used for anything else. Really they could have just used one of her "taunts" and had that direction always switch. It would more or less be just like how Kirby's taunt ditches his copied abilities.
Is the Dragoon from something, or a unique item (like the fan)? It seems like building it is similar to building your ship in Jetpac, but it's clearly nothing like that ship otherwise. Also, it seems that in fantasy there's a clear deliniation of power level as determined by what color it is. Grey is always weak, then up to red, white, silver, and gold near the top (if someone's glowing gold, they will tear your face off). Then, if they need something more extreme than that, they always end up giving up and just having them glow with rainbow colors (see: EVERYTHING, such as Sonic in Hyper Sonic mode).

Okay, it's probably well known at this point that the old "advanced techniques" (that were more like exploits anyway) are no longer valid. That is, "wave dashing" and so forth.
There's a whole new set of advanced techniques though. Learn them well. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto/tec...que10.html I'm sure there's more than this.
