    We'll know if they struck some deal with Sony when Toshiba starts making Bluray players. In the mean time, that would be the logical thing to do. I mean it's either they give up early or go on in spite of their failure and just lose even more money.

    Not true, companies can reach agreements to stop manufacturing something (legally) through an agreed sum. It's totally mafia but it works. Dont forget that BR is also failing because interest just isn't there. But now that the quickening is over and there can be only one it's possible that Sony could break in to the masses. I dont see that happening anytime soon but... if Sony could release a cheap BR/DVD player and get some good movies... I mean, why haven't we seen this:

    I mean why isn't sony actually trying to entice with the format? I haven't seen a single commercial just advertizing the format as what it is.
