I'd hope not... :)

A real virus hunt would actually be very boring indeed. What's the plot? Is this Ice Nine supposedly "so volitile that no software can stop it once unleashed!" or something else so uninformed as that?
And another thing, why is it that computer programs in movies either have the weird 3D interface that looks completely impracticle OR the command prompt from 1976? Why is it that these supposed "computer nerds" never actually do any real hacking and just end up guessing a password? Why are ALL the computers these weird mac hybrids usually? When the nerd on TV is doing something on a BLACK SCREEN, why is their face lit up like the freakin' sun? What's up with that file on Daredevil being deleted LINE BY LINE as if they expected anyone who actually knows anything about a computer to buy that? What's with the totally uneeded showing of what I can only guess is machine code on the screens in The Matrix, as though any nerd could really learn to read that, or would need such fancy graphical effects, or like learning ONE computer's machine code could possibly apply to any other computer? Let's not forget how computers are ALWAYS beeping, even when you just are typing stuff in (by the way, the programmers are some of the loudest typers in the universe according to Hollywood), which is something I'd be sure to kill everyone in the vicinity if I had to endure. That's why on a new Windows installation I always turn OFF IE's annoying clicking sound. Okay, rant over :D. Yeah I realize it's all just for mood and likely directors and art guys don't know a thing about computers. I do feel sorry for any programmers on set that have to obey the wims of those guys though...

Did you get the joke about the name of that game, DJ?
Sometimes you get the scorpion.
4th March 2003, 2:17 PM
Ice Nine....
I Cenine Ic enine icen ine icenin e Hmm enin eci Hmm, maybe it's related to ol' Al here... Ice Nine... Like, if you had to wear cement shoes and get thrown 9 feet under a lake's frozen surface? Sorry, I don't get it...

Yes yes, very funny, DJ.
I wonder if you get to make a forum in that game, and then once a lot of people join you decide to crush them and abandon the place and try to make it so that if your forum dies, so does the community! But then the posters decide that they'll still be a community even if it's under a different name or at a different board, so they leave and end up staying alive for many years after that!! HAHA!! Take that, ICE-9!!!

We haven't shown our appreciation for his kind actions at his forum in a long time... :) does he even still go there?
Oh, and I have no idea what DJ's joke (I assume its supposed to be one...) there is...
4th March 2003, 2:50 PM
Go where?
4th March 2003, 2:52 PM
virtuafighter.com... the one he didn't close...
Um, what was the joke there in DJ's last post?
4th March 2003, 3:05 PM
I don't know (regarding both questions).
4th March 2003, 3:32 PM
Woah! I thought it sounded familiar! Now I get it, Ice-9!
Seriously, I hadn't the slightest idea what the joke was supposed to be. I also wasn't really trying to make a joke in that post so much as make it perfectly clear I had no idea what the joke was.

Then, DJ, you have a VERY bad memory... I'd think Ice-9's name would be burned in all of our memories for a really long time...
4th March 2003, 3:37 PM
Of course he knows who ice-9 is. He was just covering up for his bad joke.
4th March 2003, 3:40 PM
I sure hope so...
Umm, though if its a joke it makes absolutely no sense at all...
4th March 2003, 6:08 PM
As soon as I read the IE title bar I started laughing uncontrollably! That was great Weltall!

"Ice Nine: If video games could take endless vacations, this would be the one."
4th March 2003, 8:11 PM
Seriously I didn't have the slightest idea what the joke was until someone pointed it out. Why would I have Ice-9's name burnt into memory? I do remember someone telling me that before I returned there was some huge fiasko regarding him, but I guess I totally missed out on that. I did kinda take off for half a year if you may recall. Besides, I don't cover up bad jokes with lies, I insult myself to cover them up.

This game was canceled during development, to nobody here's sorrow I'll bet. :)
A video of it recently leaked though... evidently it was going to be a very generic FPS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=09joyyVEEvI <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/09joyyVEEvI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/09joyyVEEvI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> A version of it does seem to actually have been released for GBA though. Doesn't look good. :) http://www.gamefaqs.com/portable/gbadvan...15501.html

On the other hand, virtuafighter.com seems to be doing pretty well and appears to have a large, dedicated, and active community.

True, true, while TC is in pretty pathetic shape...will we ever actually try to do anything to try to get any kind of new membership base? I mean, TC doesn't need to be huge or anything, but as it is...

Speaking of video game experiments that will probably never be finished, I have to take a video game design class at ECPI for my bachelors. My practice project is a mario mini game.
Here's what I have so far... [Movie]http://www.tcforums.com/etoven/Mario Game.flv[/MOVIE] |
