We are about 2.5 weeks away from the release date, but nobody's talking about the new Pokémon at all. I can't really blame you though. But who's going to buy one or maybe both? Anybody? Because Nintendo once again is releasing Pokémon a week before Zelda (they did this with GS an MM as well), I probably wouldn't buy the new Pokémon right away even if I was rich and bored. And I don't really have any big reason to play them sooner than later, since I don't have anyone to trade with and the cartoon is still about 40 episodes away from moving to this new world. So I'll probably get one of them this summer.

Aren't they pretty much just graphical upgrades (although they're barely even that) to the previous games? When the hell is Nintendo going to make a real Gamecube Pokemon game?

I'd never buy any perfectly done MMORPG, much less a Pokemon one... I just don't find it worth my money to pay monthly fees to play games. That's a whole lot of money lost towards getting new games... maybe if I didn't have virtually no money, but as it is, I doubt I'll play any pay online games anytime soon.

I think they are more of a new quest with some new features than a graphical upgrade. Like MM was to OoT. But I guess they did add reflections to the water. Processor intensive stuff there. Rolleyes

Good to know that Nintendo isn't resting on their laurels with Pokemon.

Indeed. After all, it did take 2 years to make. You can tell too.

The day LL is getting bored with Pokemon is a sad day indeed... I myself got uninterested around the time Crystal was released. I'd LIKE to get all these new Pokemon games to be sure, if they weren't just stand alone expansions... I'll probably get one of them this dummer as well though, because I'm still interested enough to get one of each new chapter when I feel like it. Gone is the day when I'd be so terribly interested as to buy each and every version as it pops up though. I think perhaps Color and Metal would have benefited from having a couple extra things. One, extra save slots. Two, include both versions on one cart, just select between them, since all the data is pretty much there already it wouldn't even require that much extra space compaired to a single version included. Three, allow trading between save slots on a single cartridge.

Though to be honest, the Oracle Zelda games really showed how this type of thing should be done. Both versions should really be two seperate quests, then they could be sold seperatly and they would be counted as individual games.

It's not that I'm bored of the series, but there's really not much to be excited about this time. This is the one series that I think Nintendo can still drastically improve on, but they won't even try. They've already done so much with Mario, Zelda, and Metroid that it's hard to imagine them pushing those series to some higher plane of existence, but even so they still continue to improve those games. Pokémon is such a fantastic concept that has so much room for growth, but now that they have the technological capabilites, such as online play or the GBA-GCN link, they release a dated rehash. It looks like they will do some sort of link to the GameCube, but only in the most obvious and least exciting way possible. It's just really frustrating. Normally I would give developers tons of grace, but this really is just a small improvement on GS. It took them 2 years to make this and we aren't getting the game for free.

Indeed. I guess that's what happens when Nintendo knows a game will sell no matter what. Perhaps it's good that they're in third place in the console race then. Makes them try harder. We did get a new Mario, Metroid, and Zelda game under twelve months, after all.

    Interesting.

my friend sent me a pokemon ruby rom and a GBA emulator just now, and i must say that the graphics, while not mind blowing, are certainly not as bad as we've all made them out to be. in fact, my first impression upon playing the game was "wow, this game is rather pretty." granted, i've been playing pokemon gold for the past 2 hours. as opposed to a game that looks *better* than Pokemon ruby like say, golden sun. but really, this game is on par with many SNES RPGs, IMO. anyway, just thought i'd defend the game really quickly.

oh, and before anyone get's their panties in a bunch over my emulation, i have every intention of purchasing this game upon its release, and, my hardrive's getting wiped in the next few days, so the rom will be deleted.

Hey cool! Maybe we can play Gamecube games on the GBA, like how we can play NES games in Animal Crossing!

    Yeah, or not.

Your really have to see the graphics in action, because it's not so much the graphics that stayed the same as it is the art style. Early on they looked really similar, but I played about ten minutes of the ROM (It's hard, it's Japanese!) and it runs really smoothly and looks slick.
